PT ASABRI (Persero) is a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) in the form of Limited Liability Company in which all shares are owned by the Republic of Indonesia represented by the Minister of SOEs as the Shareholders or GMS based on the Regulation of the Government Number 41 of 2003 on the Allocation of position, tasks and authority of the Minister of Finance on Persero, Perum and Perjan to the state Ministry of State-Owned Enterprise.
Pursuant to Law No.40 Year 2014 on Insurance Business, PT ASABRI (Persero) is a Compulsory Insurance Program Organizer, while Government Regulation No.102 Year 2015 states that PT ASABRI (Persero) is a Social Insurance Manager Company. So that it can be referred that PT ASABRI (Persero) is a Social Insurance Company which is implemented as a compulsory based on the laws and provides financial protection for the benefit of Indonesian National Armed Forces, Police Republic of Indonesia and Civil Servants of Ministry of Defense and Police Republic of Indonesia. The implementation of insurance activities of PT ASABRI (Persero) emphasizes on basic principles of social insurance namely mutual cooperation, in which “the young helps the old, the high-income earner helps the poor and the one having fewer risks helps the one having more risks.”
