Assembly Manufacturing Engineer

As the Assembly Manufacturing Engineer, You Will

  • Evaluate projects to define desired results and determine logical approaches.
  • Evaluates such factors as cost, personnel yearly usage, equipment, space, etc. as well as other information needed to determine requirements.
  • Prepares feasibility studies for appropriateness and cost effectiveness and submits recommendations accordingly.
  • Results contribute to the effective management decisions in determining the most efficient processes, methods, machinery, tools, equipment, services, and systems needed in the manufacture of product.
  • Actual work assignments may be typified as follows: projection, evaluation, specification, and acquisition of new or replacement machine tools.
  • Capital forecasting correlation and reporting as it relates to new product introduction, prime product capacity increases, machine replacement, and methods improvement.
  • Substituting material or combining similar parts to realize savings through material prices and machining costs.
  • Analyze tooling failures and evaluate tool characteristics and requirements.
  • Plan factory layouts for effective utilization of space due to rearrangement, new processes, or expansion, determining the need for modern facilities.
  • Responsible for assembly planning; develop and implement assembly processes in line with CPPD (Concurrent Process and Product Development) and NPI (New Product Introduction) design changes, etc.
  • Fully participate as required in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and PFMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) activities where fabrication operations are required.
  • Encompasses planning, tooling, maintenance, plant engineering, releasing, machine shop, assembly, etc. wherever a specific technical assignment may be needed.
  • Analyses engineering change notices, determines any part or process change, initiates and implements all changes.
  • Provides analysis and recommendations needed to allow manufacturing to produce the engineering product designs. Provides effective communication and services in solving production problems or pursuing operations improvements. Simulates present and future machine lines and cells to predict line flow problems and makes recommendations for implementation.
  • Conducts investigation to assist in resolving assembly issue and technical problems. Performs quality checks on equipment, process, etc. used in assembly operations.
  • Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties.

The Successful Candidate Must Bring

  • University degree in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering-related degree.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment with thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts related to assembly process.
  • Minimum of 4 (four) years experiences in assembly or test process.
  • In depth knowledge and experience in PFMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Control Plan, IPV (In-Process Validation) and standard works.
  • Understanding hydraulic and electrical systems (schematics diagrams).
  • Proficient in computer assisted design (CAD) and 3D Drawing software, Creo is preferred.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Assembly Manufacturing Engineer (Fresh Graduate)

  • Batam

As Assembly Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide expertise in Assembly areas of the manufacturing process to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective manufacture of product. This is a staff position which is expected to function as a specialist with respect to a specific technical phase of the planning function and which generally falls within the major areas of releasing, assembly process, layout, work standards and manufacturing development. Work assignments may be specialized in nature but may also be broad based with coordination between other staff personnel to complete a larger project.

As the Assembly Manufacturing Engineer, You Will

  • Read, understand and relate the engineering drawings to assembly or test sequence and process.
  • Established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties in Assembly area.
  • Develop assembly working instructions , covering lifting practice, ergonomics, workmanship standards and process documents, and ensure they are followed.'
  • Fully participate as required in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities where assembly operations are required.
  • Address problems in processing, programming, tool design, standards development and application, acquisition of tools and equipment, layout, processing, material composition, assembly planning, heat treat, chemistry and / or automated storage systems, etc.
  • Maintain awareness of technological advances in processing, material composition, automation of material movement and / or machine capability. This knowledge is used to provide input into project assignments in an Assembly area of the shop.
  • Evaluate and investigate shop problems and follow-up on recommendations. You will work within generally defined procedures and guidelines but have the latitude to evaluate and solve common manufacturing process problems. Guidance is available from Senior Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing Project Engineers.
  • Evaluate engineering change notices, determines any part or process change, initiates and implements all changes.
  • Assists with the more complex issues related to deciding capital requirements, developing systems or databases, or equipment and systems integration.
  • Provides evaluation and recommendations needed to allow manufacturing to produce the engineering product designs. Simulates present and future machine lines and cells to predict line flow problems and makes recommendations for implementation.

The Successful Candidate Must Bring

  • Fluency in English
  • University degree in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering-related degree.
  • 3D design proficiency using design software like Creo, SolidWorks, etc.
  • Basic programming skills.
  • Able to read mechanical drawing and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)

We are currently looking for an Assembly Operator to join our production team at Caterpillar Indonesia Batam.

As the Assembly Operator You Will

  • Checking material
  • Fill out the checklist of material when picking up material to be assembled
  • Assembly follows standard work processes
  • Fill In Progress Validation (IPV)
  • Move material from sub-process to next process
  • Test after assembly process
  • Operate Over Head Crane
  • Mastery the requested operation in a given / defined area

Welding Trainer Supervisor

As a Welding Trainer Supervisor at Caterpillar, you will have an opportunity to handle, develop and execute the welders / fitters training program based on the curriculum to achieve the highest quality welders delivering the highest quality components. Your role will encompass leading a team and developing them based on your expertise, leading development programs that deliver continuous improvement and increasing the levels of quality throughout the value stream. Training will cover welding technologies, continuous improvement, pro-active problem solving and prevention. Alongside reliability training and a high focus to ensure the ongoing monitoring of all welders trained that they continue to meet the welding standards of Caterpillar.

As the Welding Trainer Supervisor, You Will

  • Lead welding school’s PID (Process Improvement Dialogues) meeting
  • Execute the Welding School curriculum with safety priority
  • Ensure all Welding School equipment and tools are in good condition
  • Manage all Welding School material and consumable in sufficient stock
  • Perform VT (Visual Testing), UT (Ultrasonic Testing) and DT (Destructive Testing) for welder qualification and test
  • Perform 5S in Welding School area and workshop
  • Control all training document and update welder certification
  • Conduct hiring and qualification test
  • Ensure Safety A3 plan board are implemented and updated
  • Monitor the new welder OJT in production line in 3 months, validate every 6 months and requalification every 3 years
  • Responsible for all welder trainee issues during training program
  • Responsible for operation tools, ladders & flatform inhouse fabrication
  • Responsible to achieve CAV Fabrication audit score base on Facility target

The Successful Candidate Must Bring

  • Good proficiency in English
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Welding Engineering
  • Certified Welding Inspector minimum level 2 (Visual Inspection) or equivalent
  • Good knowledge about welding technology: Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), machine & feeder, weld tractor, SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) and other technologies
  • Good knowledge about WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and welding defects
  • Good knowledge VT (Visual Test), UT (Ultrasonic Test), MT (Magnetic Test), PT (Penetrant Test), Fracture Test & Macroetch Inspection
  • Ability to teach and train welder / fitters with progressively responsible job-related experience
  • Computer literate and good document control management (certifications, people management, trainings, welding material budgets)
  • Understands the fundamentals of welding metallurgy, quality systems, external welding specifications, engineering standards and specifications, manufacturing practices and specifications, robotics, process modeling, testing processes and procedures, and project management
